GRANDMA FORGETS

I received this book to review and I'm thrilled that I have a copy. EK Books have been publishing some stand-out books to help children understand some rather complex situations, such as autism and dementia.

Reasons we love this book:

1/ It can help a child understand and deal with a loved one who has dementia.

If anyone knows of any little ones struggling to understand why someone they love can't remember them and so forth, then gifting them this book would be a lovely idea!

2/ It highlights family values, love and compassion.

Dealing with dementia is tough. It's sad and for children, it's confusing. I found this book to be really uplifting and teach a few coping mechanisms. It shows that even though Grandma may not remember any of their names she will always know how much she is loved.

3/ It teaches children how important memories are!

I love that the book touches on little, somewhat insignificant things (which is how they sometimes feel when life is chugging along normally) like sausages for lunch at Grandma's. I like that it shows these little rituals and things in family life can end up being so important and cherished.

Wonderful book! The illustrations are some of my favourites to date. The story is beautifully written and easy to understand for children.

Good for 4yo and up.
