Reasons we love this book:

1/ It's a great book to teach siblings about bonding.

Such a stunning book about learning to accept sharing a bedroom! I'm sure there are many little ones out there who've had a not-so-great-time sharing a room with a younger brother or sister. It also highlighted how it's hard to sleep when they're not in the room! The old, can't live with them can't live without them scenario.

2/ It shows how to resolve problems peacefully in the family.

I love that everyone in the family is affected by Jessie not sleeping, but it's her older sister that has to share her room at night - so she is most eager to solve the problem! She approaches both parents to try and get Jessie to sleep. When both parents fail, she takes it upon herself to go for the gentlest and most loving of approaches to get Jessie to sleep.

3/ It teaches patience and kindness.

I love that the older sister is the one to get Jessie to sleep. It was such a beautiful ending to a very simple story about love, acceptance and patience.

For ages 3 and up.
