Illustrated by Freya Blackwood
Publsihed by Little Hare Books

This book WON the 2011 Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year award for the Early Childhood sector.

Reasons we love this book:

1/ It highlights patience and unconditional love.

Maudie is a little girl who likes everything just so. Bear, like most caregivers is loving and patiently meets the demands of Maudie. My son found it funny when Maudie tells Bear how things should be done.... art imitating life I think.

2/ I love that the book is broken up into 5 little stories.

It's wonderful as you could just choose one story before bedtime and read one story from Monday - Friday. It could last the week! I read the whole thing tonight and he wanted it again! So it was popular. The stories are sweet, warming and very calming before bed.

3/ the illustrations are divine!!!

It is no surprise that many of the CBCA winning books have been illustrated by Freya Blackwood - she is just so talented and this book is another masterpiece.

For 3yo and up!
