This book is shortlisted for the Early Childhood, 2017 Children’s Book of the Year Awards by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.

Reasons we love this book:

1/ It looks at snow in AUSTRALIA!

Yes! Most snow related stories are either set around a European/American setting and predominatly about Christmas - very rarely do we get a great story about our Australian snow. This book looks at the Australian High Country and highlights different Aussie animals in our snow landscape. It’s truly beautiful.

2/ It’s a simple, heartwarming story that is short, sharp & easy to read out loud.

The illustrations by Mark Jackson are a 10/10! GORGEOUS!

3/ It teaches children that there’s no place like home!

As much as we all love an adventure (and a play in the snow) when we watch the wombat find his burrow and get warm and cosy out of the cold, it highlights that home is definitely the best place to finish the day at!

This was a beautifully timed book to borrow from our librar as we are hitting the snow in the coming weeks.

It got Mr 4 very excited about our upcoming adventure and I was happy I had a book about the Australian snow landscape to read to him - perfect!

A truly divine book for the 3+ year old.
